For Artist

If you are an exhibiting artist, here are some general guidelines to go by:

1. Artwork must be dry before you hang up your work for display.
2. Hanging Materials must have minimal impact on the walls (artist putty for title plates as an example). Each show would have different guidelines depending on the venue.
3. If Photos or Digital Prints are the medium of choice, please mount them on black or white matte board, frame them, or even have a clean cut flush black or white  foam board mounted on black or white matte board.
4. If your pieces are 3D, then you would need to provide your own table/podium.
5. For artwork title plates:

Print out 3.5×2 inch cards based on the Avery template (available at this link SAAC Name Plates). Do not change the font style, font size, or font color, or add your logo (that is what your business card and business card holder is for). Just edit the information where it says “Type Here”. The Avery template cards can be purchased at your local office supply store.

6. Artwork’s subject matter must be not depict pornography, racist, or acts of brutal, graphic violence.
7. ALWAYS sign your name on the work of art that is legible and visible. Not only does it raise the value of your work, it gives you more copyright protection.

I’m glad that I’ve found this schertzareaartzcouncil.org site. I don’t have much to add to the conversation, but I’m right here with you. This post said exactly what I have been thinking. Good to see you posting again.

I am new to the Schertz area. I have been an artist in Myrtle Beach, SC. My medium is Oil on canvas or Board. I would like more information on becoming a member of the area arts counsel. Please contact me through my email.
